Oaklands Drama Group came up trumps once again with this revue, written and directed by Judi Herman, celebrating Jewish life in London’s West End. According to the story, the Jewish West End was split into those living north of Oxford Street in Fitzrovia and those living south in Soho, with the more affluent Fitzrovians to the North feeling a cut above the others. The company was split into two gangs of Jewish children, who gradually brought the groups together by breaking down barriers. The ‘children’ acted out scenarios about the lives of the locals spanning several years pre war and post war. The whole revue came together with superb singing and directing. The audience was entertained with a fast moving storyline and they were drawn in by the exuberance of the players. During the interval we were able to look at a well researched display about Fitzrovia with news clippings and notes which brought the piece alive. Many thanks to the Drama Group for a very entertaining evening.
