On 6th October 2008 NPLS member Ruth Weyl was presented with an award by the German State President Dr. Horst Köhler to honour her for her contribution to German-Jewish and Jewish-Christian understanding. In a moving ceremony at the presidential residence in Berlin, the Bellevue Palace, Ruth received the Bundesverdienstkreuz (Federal Cross of Merit). Present were ICCJ treasurer Prof Dr Abi Pitum, General Secretary Rev. Dick Pruiksma and former Ambassador Peter von Butler, member of the ICCJ advisory panel. Subsequently, on 28th November, the German Ambassador to the UK invited Ruth and a number of her guests to celebrate her award at the German Embassy in London.
